When corresponding with perspective clients about their Outer Banks Wedding we (selfishly) talk a little about ourselves. I feel it’s so important for our couples to know what to expect when Sara and I are at their wedding! A huge part of our approach to weddings that we’re very laid back and relaxed people. That is NOT to say that we don’t like organization, we we absolutely do – it’s essential on a wedding day! I’m more referencing our personalities and how we interact with our couples and their guests. Because we are not formal and stuffy it’s really important to us that we work with clients who welcome and appreciate our approach. We love to laugh, joke, and keep a very playful vibe on wedding days…they are stressful enough as it is without having to deal with a photographer who is wound tight. You might be wondering what on earth any of this has to do with Brittney & Max’s blog post, but it’s because we seriously could not love Brittney and Max any more for this exact reason! If there was ever a couple who fits our vision it’s these two!

From the moment we photographed their engagement session I knew they would be a great fit. These two love to laugh, are so relaxed, and have a playful spirit with each other. You couldn’t ask for a more perfect personality combo. Weddings are nothing if not organized chaos and you plan to the best of your ability but need to be flexible enough to roll with the punches. They had a few curve-balls thrown at them and we are so thankful for their easy going spirit and allowing us to just figure out a Plan B, then a Plan C to make it happen!

For starters, they picked October envisioning a nice fall day, with Brittney convincing Max fall on the OBX would be cool enough to have the outdoor ceremony she envisioned. Mother Nature played a big fat joke on us, because it was one of the hottest weekends we had – period. From an event tent in our First Look location, moving to “Plan B” only to get swarmed by mosquitoes, they just laughed and rolled right along! My absolute most favorite part of the day was Brittney’s commitment to having an “unplugged ceremony” – asking all of her guests to please turn off all phones, cameras, etc and truly be present in the moment. What a joy it is to look back at their ceremony photos and see smiling faces instead of cell phones and iPads! The end result is a wedding I am so proud we got to be a part of.

We love these two so much, and that made us even more THRILLED to learn their wedding was selected for publication in the upcoming 2019 Outer Banks Weddings Magazine! Be sure to visit The Outer Banks Wedding Association to request your copy and see their amazing spread!
