Everyone who knows me knows I am a sucker for weddings.. I love everything about them, and so it’s no surprise that photographing couples in love is where my passion is. This session has to be one of my favorite all-time moments. A couple of weeks ago I had an email from Martin telling me his plans to propose to Emily and have it all captured on camera. I immediately let out a squeal because this stuff is right up my alley! Emily, an OBX local, now lives in Raleigh and was home visiting friends and family. Thinking Martin was out of town, she had NO idea how her night was getting ready to change.
Emily’s girlfriends did such a fantastic job. Not only had they kept the secret for over a week, but they had the tough job of getting her downtown and to our spot. Confused over why they were going for an “early bird” dinner at 1587, and even more confused as to why they were walking so far down the dock to take a group selfie – the moment she saw Martin was priceless. Not only did Martin surprise Emily with his presence, but he also surprised her with a gorgeous diamond ring and the question that would change her life. I’m not sure if she said “yes”….but the tears, hugs, and kisses said it for her.
The night and weather could not have been more perfect. I love fall, and it did not let us a down. The cool temps and golden light – it was perfect! They took a few minutes to pop some champagne and have a moment before we grabbed a few photos to commemorate the night. These two are stunningly gorgeous and so sweet. I was so honored to be a part of their day.
And fellas…..take a note from Martin’s book and get that proposal photographed!
