Where do I even start with Amanda & Garrett’s wedding? Amanda first inquired with me last summer when she and Garrett were considering an OBX Wedding. They decided to get married back home in Virginia and I was THRILLED when she emailed to ask if I travel for weddings. That was an immediate YES! We *love* to travel for weddings, in fact, it one of my favorite things about being a destination wedding photographer. One of biggest compliments we can have is when someone loves our work enough to bring us to THEM. I was so humbled that Amanda was adamant I would be photographing her wedding, and what an amazing day it was! I loved that she and Garrett had been together for over 10 years, because I too dated my husband 12 before we got married! #HighSchoolSweetheartsForTheWin
They had originally booked me for a date in January, but mother nature had other plans. A few days before the wedding we started hearing chatter about the blizzard that was about to hit Northern Virginia. Sure enough there was A LOT of snow projected on the forecast. I already had my snow boots packed when I got an email from Amanda asking if we had a date in April open, they were being proactive and changing their date 4 days out!!! You know it’s meant to be when you actually have the date open, and the plan was made. Miraculously everyone was able to make the switch. They ended up getting three feet of snow!!! As much I was swooning over the thought of snowy wedding photos the safety of everyone involved was more important – and sometimes things are a blessing in disguise.
After a lot of cold weather Amanda & Garrett had the most gorgeous spring day for their wedding. Trees in bloom, warm temps, and cheerful smiles. I cannot say enough good things about the team at Fauquier Springs Country Club. Their staff was beyond amazing, and the ground are just beautiful…..we can’t wait to go back!
The day could not have been more flawless, and a huge part of that is due to the First Look. It’s no secret that we’re HUGE fans of the First Look, and we encourage our clients to really consider it. It’s such a vital part of our workflow and how we’re able to capture the amazing couples portraits we’re known for. Our couples who do a First Look are always more relaxed, less stressed, and their wedding day typically runs ahead of schedule! No detail was left undone, and I was swooning over their details. Sequin linens? Ruffles on the cake? Rose gold rings?? YES PLEASE!
