If there’s one thing I kept hearing over and over again at Tori & Max’s wedding it was, “this is SO cool”. You see, when you host your wedding at an aquarium that is definitely the kind of reaction you’re going to get! Tori’s mom lives here locally on the Outer Banks and they knew this was where they wanted to get married. When it came time to picking a venue they settled on the North Carolina Aquarium at Roanoke Island and it did not disappoint. I had such a blast with them the previous fall for their OBX Engagement Session and I knew the wedding would be just as great.
They opted not to have us there for the getting ready portion of the day, so while Max arrived ready to roll, we were still able to grab a few shots of Tori getting into her dress and the finishes touches with her veil and gorgeous flower crown! After a sweet first look tucked off near the trees we were joined by their bridal party and family to get the formal portraits out of the way. Before we knew it, it was time for their waterfront ceremony on the overlook pier.
While we finished up photos following the ceremony guests were invited to enjoy cocktail hour as they roamed among the fish! The best part of an aquarium wedding is giving your guests full access to explore all the amazing exhibits. Sipping cocktails while petting stingrays – what more could you ask for? Introductions and a sweet first dance took place before everyone settled in to have dinner in front of the shark tank. We LOVED getting to see the looks on everyone’s faces as they turned each corner to see what came next.
