Tyler found me from Darlene & Ryan’s Jennette’s Pier Wedding, so when he inquired about photographing his proposal to Taylor I was 100% in. All of Darlene & Ryan’s friends and family were so awesome I just knew that Tyler would be too. He let me know they’d be on vacation in Nags Head and he planned to pop the question one night after dinner. If you’ve never vacationed on the OBX you probably don’t know the joy and chaos it is to stay in a giant house with ALL of your family. Needless to say a romantic dinner out just the two of them was probably a welcome thing at that point in the week.
Tyler knew he wanted to propose on the beach near Jennette’s Pier, so I suggested he take Taylor to dinner at Lone Ceder Cafe in Nags Head. Not only is their food AMAZING (so much so they catered my wedding!) but it’s super close to the pier. Tyler was on his game that night…..he even had the forethought to take a pre-dinner selfie and then text it to me so I knew who I’d be looking for. Smart guy! I try to be as inconspicuous as possible as I hang out in my beach chair trying to look like just another person enjoying the view.
I was so excited to see them finally get down on the beach. They kicked their shoes off and walked along the water, passing right in front of me, before Tyler dropped to a knee and asked Taylor to be his! She had the most priceless reaction. We could not have asked for more gorgeous weather – one of those days where all the stars align and it was perfect!
